The company has an extremely good reputation as well, being “ranked by Fortune magazine as one of the ‘most admired’ companies in the food and drug sector.” When Burd joined the company he engineered a huge turnaround which produced “industry-leading sales and cost reduction while developing an excellent reputation for superior customer service.” Today the company is also involved in prescription drugs and has over 1,300 in-store pharmacies. Other services the company offers are: prepared meals; fuel centers; private label products; online home delivery and Starbucks coffee cafés.
